About Me
Hello! I’m Kailani Young — a passionate and dedicated Web Developer, Animator, 2D/3D Modeler, and Game Designer with a strong foundation in crafting engaging and interactive digital experiences. While I’m still refining my skills, I bring a solid technical base and an eagerness to grow every day. I merge my knowledge of web development with a creative flair for animation and interactive storytelling, always seeking to push the boundaries of what’s possible in both visual and technical design. Whether I’m building responsive websites, animating immersive narratives, or designing interactive 3D environments, I thrive in spaces where creativity and technology meet. I’m constantly experimenting with new tools like Vanta.js for dynamic visuals and scroll-triggered animations to create more engaging user experiences. My creative journey includes personal projects like Darkness in My Room, and collaborative animations such as HomeTree and The Bounce Off. My work often explores emotionally grounded themes, blending slice-of-life storytelling with thoughtful design. If you’re looking for someone with a versatile skill set in design, development, animation, and game creation — and a drive to keep evolving — feel free to connect with me through the contact section. I’d love to collaborate on something amazing.
Project Title 1
This is a description of Project 1. It showcases my work with XYZ.
Animation: Darkness in my Room
"Darkness in My Room" is an animation I created during the COVID-19 pandemic, early in my animation journey. I developed the concept, built all the models, and spent over 72 hours crafting the animation and assets. While I didn’t initially feel impacted by isolation, the process revealed subconscious emotions I hadn’t realized were there.
Animation: HomeTree
"Home Tree" is a team-based animation project I worked on alongside two other members (originally four, before one left early on). I was responsible for most of the major models, rigging, and parts of the animation. Beyond my technical contributions, I also supported the team emotionally, often being the go-to person when others felt stressed or burnt out. Over the course of 4–5 weeks, I dedicated more than 140 hours to the project.
Animation: The Bounce Off
"The Bounce Off" was a team-based animation project I worked on with two other members (originally four, before one dropped out early on). As my first animation project, I took on a wide range of responsibilities—including most of the modeling, world-building, narration, and parts of the animation. I also supported my teammates emotionally, helping them manage stress and burnout throughout the process. Over the course of 4–6 weeks, I dedicated more than 150 hours to the project.
Figma wireframe: Portfolio Wireframe.
This is the initial wireframe I created in Figma to help define the direction of my portfolio. It gave me a clearer sense of layout, color palette, and typography. I also put together a mood board and built out simple prototypes to better understand the look and feel of the site I would later develop.
Figma prototype: Intel Sync.
"Intel Sync" was a prototype app developed by a team of four, including myself. I was responsible for wireframing, prototyping, and helping conceptualize the design and layout. This was one of the first times I had worked with Figma, as well as creating wireframes and prototypes. Over the course of four weeks, I dedicated more than 70 hours to bringing the app prototype to life.
These are screenshots of what the site should look like.
